My dog died
just before February leaped,
leaped into a pandemic.
I went to France
just before March crept,
crept into a crisis.
I returned home
just before time slowed,
slowed for everyone.
I sit here now
going nowhere fast,
keeping all distant,
and mourn for a world
that seemed to stop
when my dog died.

Sorry to hear about your dog! Also, I need to apologize for my inappropriate emoji last week in response to your tale of frustration about getting back through US customs at Dulles. It was maybe a day or two later that I read a WaPo column about how stupid it was for you-know-who to block all flights from Europe without giving airports a heads up and time to prepare for the onslaught of travelers. Then MSNBC had a clip on the pile-ups at airports being the absolutely worst environments for trying to limit virus infections. You and Woody should not have had to endure that! I pray now for your health and well-being, and look forward to seeing you in the near future. We are due to return from paradise on 3/26.
